Hello World!

Hello World! Welcome to my new blog!

Two years ago, Kevin (the hubs) and I began the hunt for our piece of the American Dream. We searched and searched and we happened to stumble upon the cutest little townhouse neighborhood with tons of character (think Charleston-esque, different colors and cute balconies from the top stories). The neighborhood was a little out of our price range at the time so we continued our search (who am I kidding, just about everything was out of our price range at that point)... but my heart kept leading me back to that neighborhood.

Finally one of the Townhouses became available and was in foreclosure. It was in good condition, but hadn't been updated in twenty years... all white walls, carpet everywhere (including the bathrooms. YUCK!).

Luckily, my hubs had vision and convinced me that the place was a blank slate. We could do whatever we wanted to it. And two months later, we closed on it. The night we closed, we drove straight over to the new abode and began pulling up carpet.

We have been very fortunate in the fact that we have
wonderful friends who are always willing to help with trade for maybe some pizza and beer and a ton of laughs.

A year and a half after closing, we are still working on the place... room by room - making it our home.

Some friends have convinced me that I need to start a blog about our journey and showing our love of taking something that is ugly and finding beauty. We work on the house, rehab furniture, and decorate each room with love.
Here you can follow us on our adventure, give us advice, and share in our experiences. So again, welcome to our little world - I am happy that you found me here. More to come soon!

So glad I found your blog! Love your DIYs. You have some great makovers! Did you do your cabinets yourself? I ask because I'm thinking of painting mine and glazing for a look like you achieved. Could I talk you into doing a tutorial on this process??
