After that long (and very cold) winter, I am happy for this beautiful weather we have recently had. I am changing my tune from "Let it Snow! Let it Snow!" to "Let it GROW! Let it GROW!"
Last spring, we began spending more time on our back deck. Very quickly we realized it was in need of some color... badly.
Not wanting to paint the deck, I decided that a planting table was just what we were missing.
Shortly after, the hubs and I went down to our family's land, Warnock Family Farms, to scavenge through some of the old barns for wood and things with which to build the planting table. Lo' and behold, we found a ton of old doors in one of the barns. This find got my gears a turnin'.
We loaded up the truck with a few doors, some antique turpentine tins, two old iron columns, some old bottles and jugs, and an old wooden tool box. I am pretty sure we looked like the Beverly Hillbillys.
After doing some quick measurements and sketches (and three trips to Home Depot), the hubs got to work. I am so lucky to have such a talented handy man.
I love the way it turned out! Its so fun to take "found objects" and find new uses for them!
Now, of course all of these plants didn't make it through the winter. Hopefully this weekend I will be able to get around to sprucing it back up. I am still waiting for my thumb to turn green!
Happy Planting, friends!
