Happy Humpday! Is this not the loooooongest week ever?!? It has been warm and gloomy here in Atlanta. I'm not sure about you, but I am super ready for some nice cool weather!
So, this has been quite the interesting week for us. This is going to be a pretty lengthy post, so prepare yourself. Monday was a tiny bit shy of nightmare. Let me set the scene for you:
6ish am. Hubs and I awake to hear a scratching noise.
Hubs: Is that what I think that is?
Me: SH*&! I think we have a MOUSE!
I thought THIS was going to be the most dramatic part of our day.
6:45ish. We hear a BAM!
Hubs: Is that what I think that is?
Me: SH*&! I think a limb just fell on the house!
SO, the hubs and I got up and go to the front door to assess the damage done by what I now refer to as the DEVIL TREE (find out why HERE). As the hubs opened the door, our 8 year old 85lb Black Lab, Lucy (who is petrified by storms) nearly knocked me over and ran out into the torrential rain... Did I mention we were under a Tornado Watch???
Hubs looked at me and yelled for me to go and get her. So picture this, I run out in the storm. I have on NO shoes, a white t-shirt, NO bra, and PJ pants with holes in them (don't judge - they are extremely comfy). I chased her around the truck twice, then up the street before I can finally caught her. The whole time I was screaming "SH*&! Come back here Lucy!" ... you can only imagine what the neighbors must think of me.
Funniest part of the story (I can laugh now, wasn't so funny then)? Once I got back in the house, scolded the hubs for HIM not chasing her, and was shivering from being wet and cold - he hands me a rain jacket IN THE HOUSE.
SO - once the storm cleared out, we decided that we couldn't take care of the limb on the house by ourselves (AGAIN, refer to THIS post to understand why). The 400 lb limb hadn't caused any damage yet, but more storms were coming. So, I ended up going home from work and scheduling lawn care guys to come out and give us quotes.
The first quote? $300
The second? $60 um.... SOLD!
So, at 5ish pm this ONE guy started hacking away at our limb BY HIMSELF with NO ROPE and a machete. I was so nervous that this little guy was about to be crushed by the limb OR that the limb was going to swing down and break the three windows in the front of our house. Unbelievably he scaled the side of our house (literally Spider Man style) and got most of the limb off of the house.... then BAM!
Hubs: Was that what I think that was?
Me: SH*&! He just broke a window.
Fun day, right?
Well - I did manage to do ONE project this week. I have been working on two antique doors that I am planning on turning into large cabinets in the office. I have changed the plans THREE times now.
This is what they looked like when we got them. Originally, I planned to just clean them and then seal them... but they didn't look right.

So then I stained them.

But then I didn't like the super dark color. So, I painted them white. They looked horrible. So, I roughed them up and then applied a stain over them to antique them. These doors are probably 100 years old. Essentially I have antiqued antique doors. I think I might be going insane. But I do like this look better.

Here are some closeups of the hardware - which I am LOVING.

I am removing the damaged glass that's in them now and replacing with chicken wire or screen.
What do you think? Should I change them again?
This weekend we are off to the family farm in South Georgia. I am so excited to get down there!Hope everyone has a great rest of the week and an even better upcoming weekend! Talk soon, friends!
