Wishful Wednesday - Snow Jam 2011

Hi Friends!

Hope y'all are staying warm. I am currently curled up on the sofa with a blanket, my sweet Parker Pup, and a heating pad. I can't seem to warm up.

We have been snowed in since Sunday night, and earlier I got the announcement that the office is closed to the public AGAIN tomorrow. I have been suffering from cabin fever a little bit (or a lot). In the past four days I have done laundry, cleaned, baked, organized, and even painted a cabinet.

The snow was fun (and really pretty) for the first two days...

but after four LONG days of not being able to venture out, this is getting old. I was really hoping the cabinet would be ready to show you guys, but sadly it needs a few more days.

So what am I wishing for this Wednesday (it is Wednesday, right? I am losing track of the days now)? Easy - a tropical vacation! We haven't been on a real vacation since our Honeymoon in 2008.

Jamaica, 2008

Don't those pics just make you want to curl your toes in the sand with a tropical drink in your hand? I would LOVE to be in Jamaica (or anywhere warmer) right now! Good news is that we are booking our Cruise this week! I can't wait to go to the Bahamas in March! HUZZAH!

I know I have been slacking on the DIY Posts lately, but it's been hard when we can't even leave the house to go to Home Depot!

Stay warm and safe! Talk soon, Friends!

Wishful Wednesday - LAUNDRY ROOM

Hey Friends! It's Wednesday... Humpday. Whew! I don't know about y'all, but this week is kicking my "you know what." I guess I got spoiled during the Holidays, but I am really ready for the weekend to be here.

You may giggle at my uber practical Wishful Wednesday post this week. But I really, really want a REAL laundry room. Currently we have a laundry closet. (confession: I have no pics to show you because currently it is overflowing with piles of clothes that need to be washed)

Here is what the laundry closet consists of: ugly louvered doors, old washing machine, oldER dryer, and a wire shelf. THAT'S IT. While I am thankful for working machines, I really wish that I had front loaders, cabinets, and maybe a sink. Hey - a girl can dream right?

Hubs says in our next house, we can have a mud room/laundry room. That day can't come fast enough. Below are some examples of what I would love to have.

The next house is a few years in the future - but I can keep wishing, right? In the mean time, maybe I will paint the inside of my laundry closet, change out the doors and change out the wire shelf. I'll keep you updated.

Hope you guys have a great rest of the week! Talk soon, friends!

New-ish Vanity

Happy New Year, Friends!

This is going to be a great year! I can just feel it! We had a bit (or a lot) of fun on NYE so on Saturday we decided to be lazy... really lazy. IT FELT GREAT! Today I had so much energy! Hubs finished taking down all of the Christmas decor and I finished the little vanity/desk I have been working on.

I really like the way it turned out. I kind of want to keep it, but I think Hubs would kill me! We really don't have a place for it.

Remember what she looked like before?

Well here she is after. A little blue beauty!

I distressed her just a little to keep it antique looking. I still have to take off those UGLY wheels, add new feet, and add poly. I think it would be gorgeous with a white distressed mirror hanging (or leaning) over it.

Hubs loves that I stained the drawers, but I am not completely sure that I want to leave the drawers unpainted. What do you think? Should I paint them blue too? Also, I realize now that the left drawer pull is crooked in these pics - will fix that too :)

I have to admit, I am pretty nervous about selling one of my pieces. I have so many questions: What if I ask too much? What if I don't ask enough? What if the buyer ends up HATING it? But hey... it's a new year and I am trying new things!

What projects are you planning for 2011? Hope you guys have a great week! Talk soon, friends!
