HUZZAH! We did it! We completed the Critz Tybee Half Marathon... 13.1 miles. This is the last installment of Half Marathon Mondays (well, for a while).
Thanks to the fabulous Victoria over at Victoria Runs and Jessica VanLanduyt (my two running mentors) for all of their advice over the last few weeks. I was so nervous with Hubs' IT band injury, that he wouldn't be able to run on Saturday. Because of Victoria's expert advice (and an awesome compression knee wrap), Hubs was able to run along side of me. YAY! There is no way I could have done it without him.
It was a gorgeous, 65 degree day on Tybee Island. We couldn't have asked for a better day to run. And you can't beat this view.
We went down with our friends, Colleen, Brian, Meghan, and Trent. It was so much fun to accomplish such an amazing feat along side of them.

Colleen and I - yes, I am obvs excited/nervous |
This was Colleen and Brian's first half as well. Trent and Meghan had completed two other half marathons prior to this one.
[side note: Trent and Meghan did not train for Saturday, and they still finished in crazy, amazing time. I am convinced they are freaks of nature... or robots]
Hubs and I made shirts for the day! They were Nike Dri-fit shirts that we made to see "Mr. Wiggles" and "Mrs. Wiggles."
We ran with 1,000 others, aging from 9 years old to 99... really, 99 years old.
I still can't believe that a year ago, I couldn't run a quarter of a mile. Now - look at us! Woo Hooo!
We were so ecstatic that we did it. And we LOVED our medals!
We went out on the beach afterward. Luckily, a nice lady agreed to take a group shot of us.
Afterward, we headed to scarf down some pizza, beer and other carbs. I am almost positive that we devoured all of the calories we burned. HA!
It was an amazing day for sure. This is definitely one of the best things I have ever done. It's official, we are addicted. We will definitely be doing another one in the future. With that being said, we definitely need to rest for a while. HA! I want to thank you all for your support and encouragement. My twitter/blogger family has been so wonderful on this journey.
Can't wait to start writing about other things again! My house needs some work. Stay tuned. Talk soon, friends!
xoxo,
Brandi Nell
